The provisions of Article 26 of Trademark & Patent Act stipulate:

Any type of discovery or new invention in various fields of industry or agriculture shall confer upon the discoverer or inventor exclusive right to make use of the discovery or invention, in accordance with the terms, conditions and for a period (maximum 20 years) specified in the Act, provided that the subject discovery or invention be duly registered at the Tehran Registration Office in accordance with the provisions of the Act.

The document issued by the Tehran Registration Office in this connection will be called  Letters-Patent.
