TYPES OF PATENTS
There are three types of patents registrable in Iran, which are:
Convention patent: granted for a maximum 20 years and, is based on foreign priorities, and is applied during convention period.
Importation patent: based on foreign patents and is granted for remaining term of the base patent.
Independent patent: which is not based on foreign priority and due to some problems is not advisable.
Necessary documents for filing patents:
A: convention patent
Full name and address of the applicant.
Full name of inventors.
Certified copy of foreign application issued by the relevant office.
Power of attorney dully notarized and legalized by the Iranian consulate.
3 sets of specification, claims, and drawings.
If priority document is not in the name of applicant, we also need an extra document like change of name document or assignment deed according to the case. This document should be dully notarized and legalized by the Iranian consulate as well.
B: Importation patent:
Full name and address of the applicant.
Full name of inventors.
Certified copy of foreign patent issued by the relevant office..
Power of attorney dully notarized and legalized by the Iranian consulate.
3 sets of specification, claims, and drawings.
If the base document is not in the name of applicant, we also need an extra document like change of name document or assignment deed according to the case. This document shall be dully notarized and legalized by the Iranian consulate as well.
C: for independent patent we require all above mentioned documents except priority document
